Community Thrift Shop Standard Operating Procedure
PURPOSE: The Officer’s
Spouse’s (OSC) and Enlisted Spouse’s (ESC) Clubs of Travis AFB own and operate the Travis Community Thrift Shop
(TCTS). All of the profits earned at the Thrift Shop are exclusively used for
charitable causes to benefit Team Travis, the local community, military service related organizations and the OSC/ESC scholarship
fund for graduating seniors and military spouses. The TCTS provides a convenient
means to dispose of unwanted personal possessions by consignment or donations.

10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Consignments, Re-Consignments, Markdowns
and Withdraws 10:00 AM – 12:45 PM
Closed the Week of July 4th,
Thanksgiving, two weeks of Christmas and New Years, all Federal Holidays and Special Events as posted.
Note:
All activities may be curtailed due to lack of volunteers!
Eligibility:
Anyone lawfully on Travis AFB, may
make purchases.
Consignors must be: Active Duty, Retired, Reserves, National Guard, CAP, or DOD, Civilian Personnel of any Branch of Service. You must present your ID when consigning.
Sales: All sales are FINAL! There are no refunds or exchanges. The Thrift Shop cannot guarantee the working condition of any item. All items should
be checked over and tried out whenever possible before the purchase is made!
Sold Items may remain in the TCTS for 3 days at no charge. If the item is unclaimed after the 4th day, it will be reclaimed as property
of the TCTS and be resold. The TCTS is not responsible for theft, damage or loss of the items purchased and left in the TCTS
for delayed pickup. When leaving an item the buyer must sign a “pick up”
agreement and give to the manager.
General Information:
Sales Tax: We are required by AF guidelines and State law to
charge State tax.
PRIVATE INFORMATION: No
telephone numbers, addresses, Social Security Numbers, or email addresses will be given out for any reason. Only verification that a check is available for pickup will be given over the phone.
Holds: Items may be put on hold for 2 hours. This allows the
interested person to get measurements, check color matches and/or get needed money. The limit of 2 hours also protects the
consignor from precious floor time. After 2 hours it will be sold to anyone interested!
Bulletin Board: Advertising of furniture or household items for
sale may be displayed on the board by the front door. A ONE dollar fee will be paid to the cashier and it will be stamped
with today’s date and posted for 30 days. After 30 days it will expired and put into the trash unless you come back
to the TCTS and pay to have it posted again!
Travis Community Thrift Shop Consignments
Contracts: Must
be purchased at the TCTS for $.50 each. ID card holder must be present to consign. Only one contract per household is permitted.
Your Account number will be the last four digits of you SSN. The duration
of the contract is 60 calendar days. All contracts must be initialed and signed
in all areas. Please read them carefully.
This is a binding agreement.
No Consignor may make more than $500
in any given month. The burden of staying below the $500 limit falls on the consignor. Should a consignor go over the $500 limit the following will occur:
a. Upon the first offense (within a 12 month period) the consignor will be
given a written warning.
b. The second offense (within a 12 month period) will result in a loss of
consignment privileges for 30 days.
c. The third offense (within a 12 month period) will result in a loss of
consignment privileges for 90 days.
d. The fourth offense (within a 12 month period) will result in a loss of
consignment privileges for 12 months.
Limitations: A total
of 12 items may be consigned per day per person. Active duty personnel with PCS
orders may consign 24 items per day for 60 days prior to their departure date or after their arrival date. A copy of PCS orders are required as proof of PCS. The only
limitation to PCS is unacceptable items. Other limitations may apply due to limited
floor space. Please call before bringing large items. Large items must be inspected by TCTS Staff before consigning.
Item Condition: Items
must be clean and in good working order. Items may be refused if not suitable
for sale (damaged, soiled, torn, and broken). If an item is consigned and discovered
to be in poor condition, the consignor will be notified to remove the item. If
not claimed within one week the item will become TCTS property.
If an item has lost the blind tag
and consignment tag, it will be place in the lost and found for a period of 30 days.
This is located in the consignment room. Please check for your items when
consigning.
Pricing: The minimum
price for an item is $2.00. Consignors will set their own prices. The TCTS will retain 30% of the selling price. Consignors
may reduce prices at anytime during the consignment period (refer to Markdowns). This
does not extend the contract period
WITHDRAWS: Item
withdraws may be done at any time during the contract period. There is
a fee per item withdrawn. Consignors are responsible for locating each item. Take these items to the consignment desk to have them withdrawn from the store. Withdraws are done between 10:00 AM – 12:45 PM.
Please withdraw Holiday merchandise promptly! ID is required.
Only TCTS personnel may remove tags! No withdraws after the expiration
date allowed. All items not withdrawn are considered abandoned and become the
property of the TCTS.
WITHDRAW FEE:
Items priced from: $ 2.00 to $24.00 $ .25
Items priced from: $25.00 to $49.00 $ .50
Items priced from: $50.00 to $99.99 $ .75
Items prices from: $100.00 and up $1.00
Re-Consignments: Items must be withdrawn first and may not be re-consigned for 30 days.
Markdowns: There
is not a charge for reducing the sale price of an item. All markdowns must be
done within the consignment hours of 10:00 AM –
12:45 PM. Consignors may markdown
to whatever price they choose (above the $2.00 min.) at any time within the 60 day calendar contracted days. MARKDOWNS DO NOT EXTEND THE CONTRACT TIME!
Payments: Checks
are not automatically mailed. You may leave a self-addressed stamped envelope
at the consignment desk. Checks are issued on the 10th of each month
for the previous month’s sales. They can be picked up in the consignment
room. Checks are void after 90 days from the issue date and will not be re-issued
(if PCSing, leave a self-addressed stamped envelope with your forwarding address)
Risk/Loss/Damage: The
TCTS does not assume responsibility for loss, damage or theft and will not compensate for it.
Consignment Schedule: Items
are consigned for 60 calendar days. The expiration date on your contract reflects
the 60 calendar days. Your items will be become TCTS property after the expiration
date.
Unacceptable Merchandise: The
following items are unacceptable.
Firearms / Ammunition, Chemicals, Light bulbs, Mattresses, Clothing, Shoes, Automotive parts, Adult Magazines,Toiletries, Cosmetics, Water Beds, Tobacco Pipes and
related products, Perishable Items, Propane Tanks, Lawnmowers, Motors
A daily list of unacceptable items
is listed on the board in the consignment room.
The buying and/or selling of items
in or around the vicinity of the TCTS before they are consigned or donated are strictly prohibited.
